Challenges & Solutions

Parsing & Indexing Massive Databases: One of the biggest hurdles was enabling the app to load and search through huge PGN files containing millions of games. I implemented a highly optimized native SQLite engine that indexes databases efficiently, resulting in lightning-fast 0.02s load times even for 12M+ game databases.

Rendering Complex Move Trees Without Lag: Chess games with deep variations and nested alternate lines can cause significant UI stuttering. By utilizing highly optimized tree structures in memory and leveraging efficient rendering loops, the app allows users to seamlessly navigate complex variations and promote alternate lines without any lag.
